I like many of you am always searching for the next Holy Grail foundation. I have tried numerous acclaimed foundations; and have felt nothing but disappointment. I decided one day to venture to Chanel and try Pro Lumiere, after hearing so many raved reviews. I was colour matched, and to my horror I was too pale for any of the Pro Lumiere shades. Incredibly poor, as I’m not that pale! The only product in my colour she could offer was Matte Lumiere. This was not a product I had considered trying, as I assumed that it would be comparable to Estee Lauder double wear, and I just didn’t want to be that matte.  I was looking for a ‘glow’ the ever quested after glow; that I’m beginning to think belongs with prince charming in fairy tales!

When I sampled it, I was surprised at how light the consistency was. It felt lovely, and was indeed the perfect colour match for me (For reference I’m nw20 and shade 05 in Matte Lumiere) I decided to take the plunge and try it out. Well here I am one month later, and in love with this foundation.

This foundation gives a nice coverage, I would say medium, but buildable. It has fantastic staying power, and is not overly Matte. You still look luminous and healthy. This is a far more natural finish than Double wear. This is the perfect product for those looking for the coverage and longevity of Double wear; but not the cakey effect that many claim to experience.  I have included a close up shot of yours truly, without flash or editing; so you can see the true results for yourself.

What’s your Holy Grail foundation?

Thanks for reading.

  1. Yep, I have it and I love it!
I love the smell so much.
    Amazing coverage and finish.
The only bad point is the pump. It can get a bit messy because it all gets stuck and clotted.
    Apart from's perfect...but expensive.

  2. I'm dying to try this! It looks great on you. :)

  3. oh god if the pro's were to dark for you, im screwed, i'm a tad on the pale side too. Im NC15 in mac, so I dont think they'll have a matte for me! I really wanted to try the Pro Lumiere too. x
